Notes: Cirsium hillii is perennial and shorter than C. discolor (about 2’ tall). The leaves are shallowly, pinnately lobed (8” by 1 1/2”) with undulate margins. The leaves are also very spiny and green on the undersides. There is usually one or a few large heads (2” across). Flowering is from mid-June to mid-July, and fruiting begins in mid-July. C. hillii is infrequent on upland to sandy prairies.
