- Notes: Dichanthelium leibergii is a tufted perennial. The leaf sheaths have bulb-based hairs, and the hairy ligule is 1/64” tall. Leaf blades are 2” to 4” by 3/8” and are hairy above and below. The inflorescence is up to 3” long, and the hairy spikelets are 1/8” long. Flowering is from early to late June. Fruiting begins in mid-June, and spikelets begin dropping in late June. D. leibergii is frequent on dry upland prairies in northwest Iowa and less frequent to the east and south.
