The species are presented in order by family and within families by genus. Pteridophytes, the ferns and fern allies, are first, followed by the flowering plants, dicots first and then monocots.

Ranunculaceae - Buttercup Family
Buttercup family flowers are regular and usually not elaborate except for prairie larkspur. The petals (showy sepals in Anemone) are separate; there are many stamens; and the numerous fruits are separate and one-seeded except, again, for prairie larkspur, in which the three fruits with numerous seeds are fused toward the base. The leaves are usually divided, often with multiple divisions, into three similar parts.
