Lythraceae - Loosestrife Family
The loosestrife family has flowers with six sepals and six petal tips at the top of a floral tube and with twice as many stamens as petals. The superior ovary develops into a dry fruit within the floral tube. Small flowers are borne in the leaf axils of small leaves at the top of the plant. Oval leaves are alternate on the stem.
