- Notes: Lithospermum caroliniense is taller than L. canescens, 2’ to 2 1/2’, and is more branched. The leaves are 1 1/4” by 3/8”, tapering to both ends. The corolla is golden yellow and 3/4” long. The calyx and fruits are also larger. Flowering is from mid-May to late June, and fruiting begins in early June. L. caroliniense is infrequent in very sandy soil, often with some disturbance such as roadsides.
