- Notes: Geranium carolinianum is an annual, 8” to 18” tall with a finely hairy stem. The leaves are similar to G. maculatum except they are alternate on the stem, smaller (1 3/4” across the blade), and more divided. The flower stalks arise from the axils of the stem leaves with clusters of up to fifteen flowers per stalk. The flowers and fruits are similar. Flowering is from late May to mid-June, with fruiting beginning in mid-June. G. carolinianum is very uncommon on prairies and in open places with dry, sandy, and gravelly soils.
