Tall green milkweedAsclepias hirtella (Pennell) Woodson
- Notes: Asclepias hirtella is similar to green milkweed but taller, to 3’ tall. The leaves are long and narrow (6” by 1/2”), with hairs on the veins. The umbels are stalked (1/2” to 3/4”). There is a narrow “waist” in the flower below the hoods, and the fruits taper to a point Flowering occurs from early July to early August; fruiting begins in early August. A. hirtella is found infrequently on mesic to moist prairies.
