Equisetaceae - Horsetail Family
The horsetail family produces spores in cones at the tips of apparently leafless, ribbed, jointed stems. Tiny leaves ensheathe the stem at each node. Stems arise from rhizomes below the soil surface. In certain species some stems are without cones.
