- Notes: Tradescantia ohiensis is similar to spiderwort except the stems are often taller (to 2 1/2’). The leaves are up to 2’ long but narrower (to 1/2” wide) with cottony hairs on the margins above the sheath. The stalks of the individual flowers are smooth, and the sepals are smooth except for marginal hairs and sometimes a tuft of hairs at the tip. Fruits are similar. Flowering is from late May to late June. Fruiting begins in early June. T. ohiensis is common on sandy prairies and in other open, sandy places, often with some disturbance, and also in open woods.
